A Shared Vision for Worthing.
Worthing faces its biggest challenge yet, translating the Vision from the Masterplan into reality. The Masterplan was created in order to reconfirm Worthing's position as a successful and competitive sub-regional centre with a range of services, activities and functions.
The town centre and seafront has so much to offer:
- Strong Heritage and Cultural Opportunities
- Unique attractions such as the Pier, the Dome and the seafront itself, one of our greatest assets
- Development Opportunities
- Investor Interest
Developers are prepared to invest in Worthing to create a successful, attractive town centre and seafront. However without a clear vision and plan these opportunities will be wasted. A co-ordinated, forward-looking approach to regeneration is what will allow the town to thrive and develop whilst maintaining and enhancing its distinctive character.
The Vision for Worthing is a town that fulfils many roles:
A Living Town - a place where people will want to live, work, invest and visit.
A Sustainable Town - a place that will meet current and future needs
A Well Connected Town - improved accessibility and linkages
An Inclusive Town - a place with something for everyone
A More Competitive Town - a dynamic economy and a competitive retail and business centre
A More Attractive Destination - an enhanced tourism and leisure offer
A More Attractive Town - a high quality environment with a good range of facilities
A Town Which Looks To The Future - whilst respecting its heritage
Successful implementation of the Masterplan will help to deliver the town Worthing wants to be: a prosperous, progressive place that meets the needs of all generations, respects the many faces of the town and tackles it's problems while making the most of its assets. It will enable the town to attract visitors, investors and residents whilst improving quality of life for existing residents. Promotion of social inclusion is key in progressing the Masterplan; providing something for everyone.
