Transport and Infrastructure

Future strategic considerations for transport in Worthing town centre follows three board themes:

  • A more accessible town centre with priority given to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport
  • Congestion to be reduced by encouraging alternative modes of transport and discouraging through traffic
  • Management and co-ordination of parking to use existing capacity efficiently

Develop a Transport Model

This is a joint study between Worthing Borough Council, West Sussex County Council and the Highways Agency. Its primary aim is to assess the potential alternative scenarios to easing congestion on the A27. The modelling will help to inform both authorities on the transport implications of major developments that could take place in the future, including those emerging from the Masterplan. The data to construct the model has been succesfully collated and the model is now being tested.

Road Safety Improvements to Chapel Road and Marine Parade

To improve the highway, reducing the number of accidents, whist providing an opportunity to improve the streetscene along a key spine route (station to the seafront).
