Regeneration Areas
The 'Masterplan' first identified distinct character areas in Worthing for regeneration. While the Masterplan set the vision for Worthing, it's regeneration is the next step in ensuring that Worthing remains a town where people will want to live, work and invest.
It is recognised that key to the successful development of these areas is the integration of the town centre and seafront. The town centre and seafront are the two principal spine routes linking all key developments.
The key areas for development are: the Station Gateway; the Cultural and Civic Hub; our Retail Core; Health and Community Focus; Western Approach; Seafront Entertainment; Heritage Quarter and Active Beach Zone. Contained within these areas are all the major development sites pertaining to the Masterplan.
A number of strategies are being developed that will underpin all of the above, which include a Public Realm, Seafront Strategy and Transport Strategy.
To co-ordinate cross sector activity and ensure that projects, major developments and other initiatives brought forward for Worthing town centre and seafront are cohesive and delivered in line with agreed Masterplan objectives, project teams have been set up to meet and oversee our current projects, these main project groups consist of:
- Seafront & Public Realm
- Transport and Major Developments
They manage individual projects that are key to the delivery of Worthing's Regeneration, agree which projects should be recommended to the Board for financial support and keep all monitoring systems up to date on progress with project delivery.
Other sub groups with their individual projects change as projects come forward and are completed, some of our other projects groups (but not all) are:
- Public Art Panel
- Concessions Working Group
- Splash Point Working Group
As each project evolves, a project lead will oversee and update the group as to the project's progress. Information on some of our projects can be found within these pages.
