Regeneration Areas

The Masterplan identifies distinct character areas in Worthing for regeneration. It is recognised that key to the successful development of these areas is the integration of the Town Centre and seafront. The Town Centre and seafront are the two principal spine routes linking all key developments. The key areas for development are: Station Gateway; Cultural  and Civic Hub; Retail Core; Health and Community Focus; Western Approach; Seafront Entertainment; Heritage Quarter and Active Beach Zone. Contained within these areas are all the major development sites pertaining to the Masterplan.

A number of strategies are being developed that will underpin all of the above these include: A Public Realm and Seafront Strategy and Transport Strategy.

To co-ordinate cross sector activity and ensure that projects, major developments and other initiatives brought forward for Worthing Town Centre and Seafront are cohesive and delivered in line with agreed Masterplan objectives, three project teams have been set up and they are:

  • Major Developments
  • Public Realm & Seafront
  • Transport and Infrastructure

They manage individual projects that are key to the delivery of the Masterplan, agree which projects should be recommended to the Masterplan Board for financial support and keep all monitoring systems up to date on progress with project delivery.
